How does crypto-to-fiat conversion work at the point of sale?

When you tap or swipe your Bancus card, our system reads the merchant's fiat charge, fetches a live market rate for your chosen crypto, and converts the exact amount from your connected wallet in real time. The merchant receives fiat — you spend crypto. The whole process takes under two seconds.

What exchange rate do I get?

Bancus uses live mid-market rates sourced from multiple liquidity providers. We add a flat 0.5% conversion fee on top — there are no hidden spreads, no markups, and no foreign transaction surcharges. Founding members on the waitlist lock in a reduced 0.3% rate.

Which cryptocurrencies can I spend?

Accepted Answer

You can spend ETH, SOL, MATIC, BNB, AVAX, ARB, and all major stablecoins including USDC, USDT, and DAI. We're adding new assets regularly — check the app for the current full list.

Question 4

Can I choose which asset gets converted for each purchase?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the Bancus app you set a default spending asset, and you can override it for any transaction before you pay. You can also set rules — for example, always spend USDC for purchases under $50 and ETH for larger amounts.

What happens if my crypto balance is too low to cover a purchase?

Accepted Answer

The transaction will be declined, just like a card with insufficient funds. You'll receive an instant push notification so you can top up your wallet. We never auto-convert from a different asset without your explicit permission.

Question 6

Does Bancus hold my crypto?

Accepted Answer

Never. Bancus is fully non-custodial. Your private keys stay in your wallet at all times. We only initiate a conversion at the moment of a transaction — we have zero ability to access, freeze, or move your funds at any other time.

Question 7

What happens if my card is lost or stolen?

Accepted Answer

Open the Bancus app and freeze your card instantly — it takes one tap. While frozen, no transactions can be authorised. You can unfreeze just as quickly when you find it, or request a replacement card from the app.

Am I protected against unauthorised transactions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bancus cards are covered by Visa's Zero Liability policy, which means you're not responsible for unauthorised transactions when you report them promptly. Our fraud detection engine also screens every transaction in real time and can freeze your card automatically if something looks suspicious.

How does Bancus verify my identity?

We use a standard KYC (Know Your Customer) process during onboarding — you'll upload a government-issued ID and complete a short liveness check. This is required by Visa and our banking partners to issue a card. The process takes about five minutes.

Is my personal data safe?

All data is encrypted with AES-256 in transit and at rest. We don't sell your data to third parties. Our infrastructure is audited annually by independent security firms, and we publish a transparency report each year.

Where can I use my Bancus card?

Anywhere Visa is accepted — that's over 80 million merchants across 150+ countries. This includes in-store, online, and contactless payments. If a terminal accepts Visa, it accepts Bancus.

Question 12

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can withdraw cash at any Visa ATM worldwide. The daily limit is $500 and the monthly limit is $2,000. A small ATM fee may apply depending on the operator — Bancus does not charge an additional withdrawal fee.

Question 13

Is there a virtual card for online purchases?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Bancus account includes both a physical card and a virtual card number. Use the virtual card for online shopping — you can also generate single-use virtual card numbers for extra security on unfamiliar sites.

Question 14

What are the spending limits?

Accepted Answer

The default daily spending limit is $2,000. You can adjust this anywhere between $10 and $10,000 in the app, with no waiting period. Monthly limits depend on your verification tier — standard accounts have a $20,000 monthly limit.

Question 15

Does Bancus support Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Apple Pay and Google Pay support is on our roadmap and expected to launch in Q1 2027. In the meantime, you can use your physical card for contactless NFC payments at any tap-to-pay terminal.

Question 16

Which wallets does Bancus support?

Accepted Answer

Bancus works with MetaMask, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger hardware wallets, and any WalletConnect-compatible wallet — over 300 wallets in total. If your wallet supports WalletConnect, it works with Bancus.

Question 17

Do I need to move my crypto to a Bancus wallet?

Accepted Answer

No. Your crypto stays in your existing wallet. Bancus connects to it via a secure read-only link and only initiates a transfer at the exact moment of a transaction. You never need to move funds to a Bancus-controlled address.

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Join the waitlist at bancus.io/waitlist. When your region goes live, you'll receive an email with a link to complete KYC, connect your wallet, and order your card. The whole setup takes about ten minutes.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. The Bancus app is available for iOS and Android. It's where you manage your card, set spending limits, view transaction history, choose your spending asset, and collect rewards.
